How does the physical and behavioral adaptations affect their ability to survive stressful environmental conditions?
Physically, polar bears are able to survive the harsh conditions of the tundra because with their fur and fat they are able to blend in and combat harsh cold weather. With their teeth and claws they are able to tear apart their prey, and with their excellent hearing and smelling senses they are able to find their prey. Behaviorally, they live a generally solitary life. They live a solitary life because their is very little life in tundras. Pregnant polar bears are the only ones that hibernate in dens through winters so this allows her cubs to be healthier since they are born in dens and not in the harsh winter.
